Turkish-Greek Bilateral Maritime History Workshop

"Turkish-Greek Bilateral Maritime History Workshop" was organized by Pîrî Reis University and Aegean University of Greece under the coordination of PRU Maritime History Practice and Research Center on 7 December 2016 with the aim of strengthening friendship relations between the two countries and  investigating  our  common maritime history and transferring it to younger generations.

The topics and speakers discussed in the workshop are:

  • Prof. Dr. John Karkazis,: Byzantine Navy (Battles, admirals and tactics)
  • Admiral (R) Metin Ataç: Turkish Maritime History, Çakabey and Emirate of Aydın Umurbey Period
  • Dr. Ioannis Vidakis:  The Goeben-Breslau Naval Action and the Gallipoli Campaign Revisited in the Context of Balancing Power Geopolitics 
  • Vice Aadmiral (R) Işık Biren: A Strategic And Taciıcal Objectives Of The Operation Of Cruiser Hamidıye

The workshop, which has been reached for the purpose of transferring historical information to audience, has gained importance in terms of being the first international activity of PRU Maritime History Practice and Research Center.
