Piri Reis University Registration and Admission Directive of Foreign Students

Foundation

Article 1- This directive has been prepared pursuant to 384-3270-451, dated 27.01.201, by the Presidency of the Higher Education Council.

Aim and Content

Article 2- The purpose of this directive is to determine the conditions of application, registration and acceptance of foreign students to Piri Reis University.

Eligible Applicants

Article 3- Providing that applicants graduate from high school or they are at the last grade of high school, and have the qualifications below, they may apply to the university.

1. Foreign students

2. Students who are from the Turkish Republic, or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or have dual nationalities and one nationality is from the Turkish Republic or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and who completed their entire high school term in a foreign country (except for Cyprus).

3. Students who have not been dismissed from a higher education institution because of a disciplinary action. 

Valid Exams and Grades

Article 4- The students having the qualifications below can apply to this university. "YÖS" and "SAT" exams are valid for two years.

1. The students who received 50% or more from YÖS (Foreign Student Exam) which was organized by a Turkish University

2. The students who received at least 500 from math exam in Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) whose result is required to be 1000.

3. The students who are in the level A in at least 3 fields among GCE exams which are related to the program applied.

4. The students who received 21 in total in Math, Science Reasoning, and Composite fields in the ACT exam.

5. The students whose average grade of Scientific Stream and the other lessons is at least 90 in the exams held in Jordan and Palestine.

6. The students whose graduate grade is at least 15 in Baccalaureate Libanais and Scientific Stream exams held in Lebanon.

7. The students who have an International Bachelor Diploma and whose diploma grade is at least 28.

8. The students who received a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal in International Science Olympics, which is acknowledged by TÜBİTAK

9. Foreign students who do not have the qualifications above but whose high school graduate average grade is 2.5 out of 4.

 

Application Documents

Article 5

l. Foreign Students Application Form filled by the nominee student.

2. Either a high school diploma or a copy of a high school diploma confirmed by a notary, with either an English or Turkish translation.

3. “Certificate of Equivalence” received from the Turkish National Ministry of Education, or the Turkish Embassy or Consulate of Turkey in the nominated foreign student’s country.

4. High school transcript: If it is not in Turkish, a translated copy confirmed by a notary is required.

5. The original document of exam result or the notary confirmed copy.

The Evaluation of the Applications

Article 6

The evaluation of the applications and the placement of the students is at the discretion of PİRİ REİS University. The applications made for the programmes that admit students with Special Talent Exam are evaluated according to the special talent examination instruction criteria. Students are placed according to their Turkish language level, as determined by the YÖS results.

1. The students who have “Sufficient Turkish” level may start their education immediately.

2. The students who have “Improvable Turkish” level may start their education conditionally.

3. The students who have “Insufficient Turkish” level may start their education only if they are successful after having taken one year of Turkish education.

The Announcement of Exam Results

Article 7

Exam results are announced on T.C. PİRİ REİS University website. The successful candidates must obtain an “Educational Visa” from the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home countries.

Registration

Article 8

Registrations are made by the Student Affairs Directorate during the registration period, as indicated in the T.C. PİRİ REİS University Academic Calendar posted on the University website.

Documents Necessary for Registration

1. The original High School Diploma and its certified translation by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

2. The Certificate of Equivalence obtained from Turkish Embassy or Consulate, or the Ministry of Education (or equivalent) in their home country which indicates that their High School Diploma is equivalent to Turkish High School diplomas.

3. An original high school transcript and its certified translation by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

4. A copy of the Exam Result Document (or equivalent) certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

5. A copy of the identification and information page of their official Identity Card or Passport, as certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

6. The Bank Receipt showing that the tuition fee has been paid.

7. An “Educational Visa” from the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

8. The original internationally-recognized Foreign Language Turkish Competency Certificate certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

9. 10 passport photos.

Education - Training

Article 9

Foreign students are subject to the terms of PİRİ REİS University Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Education - Training and Examination Regulation.

Authorization

Article 10

This Directive is authorized by the decision of PİRİ REİS University Senate.

Implementation

Article 11

PİRİ REİS University Rector is responsible for the implementation of this Instruction.
