PİRİ REİS UNIVERSITY TERMS OF APPLICATION
TERMS OF APPLICATIONS FOR THE ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS
Within the context of the admission of foreign students, applicants can directly apply for the programmes of bachelor’s degree and associate degree. Having graduated from a high school equivalent to Turkish high schools, the foreign students fulfilling the conditions below and wanting to receive education through foreign student admission quota, may apply to our university for our Bachelor or Associate degree programmes.
DATES OF APPLICATION
All the documents necessary for application must be sent through post to Piri Reis University Registrar’s office before the deadline. The documents which have been received after the dates specified below will not be considered.
Eligible Applicants
A. Providing that they are graduates or in the last grade of high school and fulfill the qualifications below, the applicants meeting the following conditions may apply to the university:
1) Foreign students
2) Applicants born in Turkey and have the permission of renouncement of Turkish nationality from The Ministry of the Internal Affairs. (It is better for the applicants who are going to apply from abroad to review Turkish citizenship law.)
3) Applicants who had foreign citizenship and became Turkish citizens or applicants with dual citizenship.
4) a) As for the Turkish students continuing their secondary education abroad before 01/02/2013 and the students having completed the last three years of their education in a foreign country, except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
b) As for the Turkish students starting their secondary education after 01/02/2013, the applicants having completed all secondary education (high school) in a foreign country except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
5) The applicants living and having completed the secondary education (high school) in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and having the citizenship of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The applicants having GCEAL exam results and the applicants that will have GCEAL exam results by receiving education from colleges and high schools between 2005 and 2010.
The applicants cannot apply under the following conditions:
1) Applicants with Turkish citizenship and having completed all secondary education in Turkey or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
2) Applicants with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, except the applicants having completed all the secondary education (high school) in the high schools of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the applicants having GCEAL exam results, and the applicants that already have or will have GCEAL exam results by enrolling high schools or colleges between 2005 and 2010 in other countries.
3) Applicants with dual citizenship and whose first nationality is Turkish by birth as identified in subclause 2 of article A, except the applicants fulfilling the conditions in subclause 4 of article A.
4) Applicants with dual citizenship, one of whose nationality is Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, except the applicants having completed all the secondary education (high school) in the high schools of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the applicants having GCEAL exam results and the applicants that already have or will have GCEAL exam results by enrolling high schools or colleges between 2005 and 2010 in other countries.
5) Applicants with Turkish citizenship and receiving education from foreign high schools in Turkey, along with the schools within the body of embassies in Turkey, and the applicants with Turkish citizenship, or the applicants whose first nationality is Turkish as identified in subclause 2 of article A.
Valid Exams and Diploma
It is necessary to submit one of the exam results or diplomas stated below.
1. The students who got %50 or more from YÖS (Foreign Student Exam) which was organized by a Turkish University.
2. The students who got at least 500 from math exam in Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) whose result is required to be 1000.
3. The students who are in the level A in at least 3 fields which are supposed to be related to the program applied among GCE exams.
4. The students who got 21 in total in Math, science Reasoning and Composite fields in ACT exam.
5. The students whose average grade of Scientific Stream and the other lessons is at least 90 in the exams held in Jordan and Palestine.
6. The students whose graduate grade is at least 15 in Baccalaureate Libanais and Scientific stream exams held in Lebanon.
7. The students who have International Bachelor Diploma and whose diploma grade is at least 28.
8. The students who got a Golden, Silver or Bronze medal in International Science Olympics which is acknowledged by TÜBİTAK.
9. Foreign students who don’t carry the qualifications above but whose high school graduate average grade is 2.5 out of 4.
The students having the qualifications below can apply to this university. "YÖS" and "SAT" exams are valid for two years.
***The exam (YÖS) is required to be taken but if the candidate does not take the exam (YÖS), their average of the High School exit grade must be at least 2,5 out of 4.
Required Documents for Application
1. Application form.
2. One exam result or diploma stated above.
3. Copy of High School diploma (photocopy), with its translation if it is in another language except from English or Turkish.
4. Certified transcript which demonstrates the lessons and grades student received in High School education process. It is required to be submitted in a sealed envelope.
5. Copy of one affirmed (accepted) language proficiency exam result by university.
6. If it is available, one academic reference letter (optional).
Note: It is required to deliver the documents in person or via mail order. Only the transcripts must be the original copy. Copy (photocopy) of other documents can be delivered. The documents will not be returned. The application of students whose transcript is missing will not be evaluated.
Evaluation of Applications
Documents of applicants will be evaluated by the appropriate Faculty board. Applicants may be contacted via email or telephone.
Quotas
Applicants who apply as part of admission of foreign student quota can make an application by choosing one of programs stated below.
Admission and Registration
It is necessary for students who are qualified to enroll in Piri Reis University to submit the following documents to registrar's office on time announced in academic calendar.
Required Documents for Registration
1. Original copy of exam result document and High School diploma (SAT, GCE, ACT, etc.). High school diploma must be delivered with exam result document.
2. Original copy of High School Diploma. If it is in a language other than Turkish or English, include notary certified translation.
3. Equivalency certificate obtained from the Ministry of Education, Board of Education and Discipline.
4. Original copy of transcript. If it is in a language other than Turkish or English, include notary certified translation.
5. Copy of the identification page of official passport or a copy of residential permit.
6. 8 passport photos to size 4,5x6 cm. Important reminder: Name, surname and student number must be written on the back of each photo in ink.
7. Original copy of language proficiency document if its photocopy is given during application process.
8. Warrant for students under 18, if they do not come to registration with their parents.
9. Student information form must be filled out completely and printed.
